Leroy Chiao, former NASA commander and astronaut, shared in an interview that he was nearly hit by two mysterious metal spheres while flying in his private plane.

Former NASA commander and astronaut, Leroy Chiao, reported seeing two unidentified metal spheres during a flight in his private plane in August 2023.

In an interview with the NewsNation channel, Chiao explained that he saw perfectly smooth metal spheres while flying from Colorado back to Houston, Texas, in the United States.

“Suddenly, out of nowhere, these two large metal spheres, one on top of the other, about one meter in diameter each, quickly flew past the left side of my plane, just below, about six meters away,” Chiao described.

The astronaut was flying at an altitude of 2,700 meters and recalled that he was able to see them “only for a second.” “It happened so fast that I didn’t even have time to be scared,” he said.

Despite the unusual incident, Chiao believes that the spheres were not of alien origin. “I don’t know what they were. My first guess is that they were some kind of military program, a drone of some sort, but it’s hard to say, right?” Chiao commented.

The former NASA commander expressed feeling that there was a lack of transparency from authorities regarding what the flying object actually was. To him, this behavior fuels conspiracy theories without scientific backing.
